Rescue Dog Gets Furever Home
Precious was a rescue that I got a call on in the spring. The lady said she'd been living on the street for months. I had three very small dogs at the time and wasn't sure if we could house a 4th, but my heart broke thinking of her out there all alone with no food, no water, and no shelter.
My husband, John, was in agreement that we should bring her home. It was a little chaoctic at first, as always, when we bring a new rescue into the house. For the first few days there was the typical growling and snapping, trying to establish the pecking order, but within a week, the dogs were playing together! And Precious was so intelligent that she caught right onto training, even advanced methods.
Still, we knew she had a lot of energy and needed to have a large area to run in. We just have the basic lot just outside of town, it's good size, but not like what a Border Collie needs. So we were absolutely thrilled when one of the ladies in our dog training class mentioned she had a sister who wanted a Border Collie. She brought her kids over and they played fetch with Precious. I loved how she was so gentle with them. They took her home to their three acre farm home that night.
It's only been a week, and I still miss Precious at times, but I'm hearing great reports. She's very happy with her new home, gets to play and run daily, she hasn't shown any bad behaviors, and she has become the little boy's dog and sleeps in his bed with him every night.
